REVIEW: PANDORA DISNEY PARKS FANTASYLAND SET
“It’s kind of fun to do the impossible.”
Keep your dreams alive with this adorable gift set of PANDORA charms inspired by Disney’s Fantasyland attractions.
When I first saw the preview of the PANDORA Disney Parks collection earlier this year I was so happy to see a Dumbo and Alice charm. The PANDORA Disney Parks Fantasyland Gift Set (7501057370431P) was released on 1st June 2017 in Disney Parks and on the DisneyStore. The Gift Set contains a Dumbo, Alice and Carousel Charm, presented in a PANDORA Disney Parks box with a free Fantasyland poster (11” x 14”). It is now possible to purchase the charms individually, but as I liked all three charms I bought the gift set and I will review them together as a set.
The very things that held you down are gonna carry you up and up and up.
The PANDORA Disney Parks Dumbo (7501057370343P) charm is a delightful pendant charm. Dumbo was one of my favourite Disney characters as a child and this charm takes me back to my childhood.
When I was photographing the Dumbo charm I was impressed by the level of detail. Notice the curl on the little blue blanket and the ruffle on Dumbo’s neck cuff.
The Dumbo charm is silver with enamel detail in baby pink and bright blue. In the stock image I thought that the little blanket had glittery blue enamel but in fact it is a textured pattern in the silver. The pink enamel is opaque and well suited for Dumbo’s ears, whilst the blue enamel is glossy and transparent.
The Dumbo charm is absolutely adorable from every angle, including his plump feet and tubby tummy!
All of the hallmarks are on the bale of the Dumbo charm which means they don’t detract from the design. The normal PANDORA hallmarks are on one side of the bale.
The Disney Parks hallmarks are on the other side of the charm’s bale and ‘Dumbo’ is engraved on the top of the bale. Previously it seemed that it was only the Disney Princess Dress charms which had their name engraved on the bale. I hope that PANDORA and Disney continue to add the characters name on the bales of pendant charms as it adds a nice touch.
What's the matter with his ears? I don't see nothin' wrong with 'em. I think they're cute.
PANDORA have done a wonderful job of depicting Dumbo and his expression is perfect! He looks young, cute and playful and his loveable unaffected personality shines through.
From behind you can see Dumbo’s dinky little tail and see how he is just about to take off into flight, with one foot slightly raised.
Don't just fly, soar.
The bale on the Dumbo charm is threaded and it joins nicely onto Dumbo’s cheeky hat. I appreciate how the charm was structured so that as the Dumbo charm hangs on a bracelet he appears to be lifting off into flight.
The PANDORA Disney Parks Carousel Charm (7501057370344P) is inspired by the popular Disney Parks attraction. The Disney Carousel Charm is a redesign of the popular Carousel Charm (791236) but with a Disney twist. On the previous Carousel Charm there are love hearts around the top. The Disney Parks Carousel Charm has little Mickey silhouettes instead.
The new Disney Parks Carousel Charm also has Mickey Ears on the top, instead of the single gold ball on the previous Carousel charm. I had been tempted to buy the older Carousel charm in the recent PANDORA sales but I decided to wait and purchase the Disney Parks version as I liked the Disney details.
The Disney and Disney Parks hallmarks are on the top on the Carousel Charm. The charm is a two tone charm with a gold detail on the Mickey ears. It is a threaded charm and is a nice chunky size.
The normal PANDORA hallmarks are on the bottom of the Carousel Charm. The older version of the Carousel Charm has ‘MERRY GO ROUND’ engraved on the bottom which isn’t included on the Disney Parks version.
You're entirely bonkers. But I'll tell you a secret, all the best people are.
I love the story of Alice in Wonderland and the new PANDORA Disney Parks Alice Charm (7501057370342P) my favourite of the PANDORA Alice charms so far. Alice is depicted in the same style as on the Alice’s Magic Potion Charm (791897ENMX).
The Disney Parks Alice Charm is mostly silver with white enamel detail on Alice’s dress and pink enamel on the teacup design.
Despite Alice being quite small there is a lot of detail on the Disney Parks Alice Charm. Notice the ribbon tied into a bow in Alice’s hair.
The Disney Parks Alice Charm is a threaded charm is a nice satisfying size. It is slightly larger and chunkier than the PANDORA Tea Cup Charm (790361).
From above you can see Alice’s arms sitting on the top of the teacup which has a smooth flat finish. The scale of Alice compared to the teacup reminds me of her shrinking in the story of Alice in Wonderland.
Both the PANDORA and Disney Parks hallmarks are situated tidily underneath the Disney Parks Alice Charm. When worn on a bracelet the bottom of the Disney Parks Alice Charm sits nicely against the wrist and doesn’t spin around very much, unlike the old PANDORA Tea Cup charm.
I'm not crazy, my reality is just different from yours.
My initial design for the PANDORA Disney Parks Fantasyland Gift Set is a completely Disney themed bracelet. I love the colour combination of the three dangle charms; Tinker Bell, Dumbo and Piglet. The various enamel details on the charms add interesting splashes of colour throughout the design, making it look fun yet not childish. The Disney Parks Carousel, Dumbo and Alice charms all take centre stage in the middle of the design and sit comfortable together.
Straight from heaven up above here is a baby for you to love.
My next design for the PANDORA Disney Parks Fantasyland Gift Set is a simple mini design on the Light Blue Leather Bracelet (590734cbl-d). I used the Pink Petite Facets (791499pcz) to highlight the pink enamel on the Alice and Dumbo Charms. This is a really sweet design which really suits little baby Dumbo.
If you can dream it, you can do it.
This design is based on the theme of Fantasyland, where anything could happen. I used the Oxidised Moments Bracelet (590702ox) to add contrast to the look. The Galaxy (791388cz) and Aventurescent Stardust Murano Charms (791628) add a twinkling, magical feel to the bracelet and the touches of gold on the two tone charms really lift the design.
It's always tea time.
One of the reasons I love the PANDORA Disney Parks Alice Charm so much is because I love tea so much! So of course I had to create a Tea Time design. I used the two tone Teapot (790250) and Cupcake (790417) charms with the old Tea Cup (790361) and the new Mrs Potts & Chip Charm (792141ENMX). Read the review of the Mrs Potts & Chip Charm for more styles options.
How long is forever? Sometimes, just one second.
I used the PANDORA Bangle to create a mini Disney theme with the Disney Parks Fantasyland Gift Set as the main focus. The Disney Jasmine’s Signature Colour Murano Charm (791648) makes it quite a bright, cheery design which is perfect for the summer months.
Laughter is timeless, imagination has no age, and dreams are forever.
My final design is based on a day out at Disney Parks! The vivid Honeysuckle Pink Leather Bracelet (590734chp-d) make a punchy backdrop for the charms and contrasts wonderfully with the blue enamel on the Dumbo Charm. The Sentimental Snapshot (791709cz) camera is there, ready to capture the days fun and adventures and the Disney Pearlescent Mickey Silhouettes (791818mop) is a sweet charm to represent all things Disney.
My verdict on the Disney Parks Fantasyland Gift Set? Proof that dreams can come true!
The PANDORA Disney Parks Fantasyland Gift Set (7501057370431P) includes the Dumbo, Alice and Carrousel Charms in a PANDORA Disney Parks box with a free Fantasyland poster (11” x 14”). If you don’t want to buy the set you can purchase the Dumbo Charm for $70 USD, the Alice Charm for $60 USD and the Carousel Charm for $70 USD individually from the DisneyStore.
