One of the world’s most influential people has just partnered with Pandora…

Pandora Partners with Millie Bobby Brown

August is going to be an exciting month in Pandora world. Starting with the Pandora brand relaunch on the 28th August, the upcoming Autumn 2019 collection will be unveiled at a large brand event in Los Angeles. The relaunch includes designs for both in store and online as well as new partnerships.

One of the partnerships is with two-time Emmy nominee Millie Bobby Brown who has signed a two-year contract. As a UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador, Millie is committed to effecting positive change and the ideal face for Pandora’s upcoming collection which celebrates self-expression.

“I feel extremely honoured to be partnering with Pandora. I love Pandora because everyone can tell their own story, and each symbol can represent your individuality.”

As part of the brand relaunch Pandora is featuring fresh new photography and with a modern look. Fashion photographer Cass Bird created a series of amazing photographs for the new campaign and Millie can be seen wearing her favourites from the upcoming collection. I am interested to discover the reasoning behind her choices of charms pictured above; a moon, star, horse shore, tree and unicorn!

“Millie Bobby Brown is the perfect ambassador for the next generation of Pandora jewellery that empowers young women to express themselves. Not only an accomplished actor and making her presence as a voice of her generation known, she also brings a youthful and individual approach to jewellery that perfectly complements Pandora’s vision and creativity.”

Stephen Fairchild Pandora’s Chief Creative and Brand Officer

The Millie Bobby Brown x Pandora campaign will be launched digitally in October and is sure to meet success and engage new fans.

Hi Everyone, I have information that the October release is mostly aimed at teenagers. Do Not Panic. The Autumn collection out at the end of August is beautiful and future collections will not be aimed solely at teens / 20s.

Have a great day,

When I get back I will likely do a preview of the Pandora Me collection.

Hi Sheila,

This post is not about a sale. It is about a young model being used for an upcoming bracelet collection called Pandora Me.

I don’t think anyone should be jumping the gun and being dissapointed in the collection yet as we are still yet to see anything, everyone might be pleasantly surprised. I have been collecting for nearly 8 years now, not every collection appeals to me, like the summer one but I then just look forward to see what the next one brings. They can’t just aim at an older generation, it needs to appeal to all. And everyones tastes are different. Dora had mentioned in posts before about the Autumn collection, although she couldnt say much it lend me to think… Read more »

Hi Kim, This topic definitely seems to have taken people’s interest. I have not seen any more than you of this Pandora Me collection. I have heard it is a new concept where you hang little dangles from the bracelet — this much can be seen from the photo Pandora released of MBB. You have been collecting about the same amount of time as me, I take each collection as it comes and add a few to my wish list. I don’t buy something from every collection either, Soring and Autumn are normally my favourites and I seem to have… Read more »

I have found the discussion on this quite interesting……I don’t think Pandora will be switching totally to a younger market – this is just one collection. I think we have to remember that not all items in their inventory will always appeal to everyone (I am happy about that otherwise I would be broke!). I like the show that MBB is in but probably will not buy from this collection but yet can’t wait for the HP collection – so there you have it. Also as some of you may or may not know, Pandora has not been doing as… Read more »

Hi Sheila, I agree with your comment 100%. It is going to be one collection in October that has been designed to appeal to younger people — it may be cheaper, maybe not. I read the quarterly shareholder reports because they give insight into the end product which is the focus of this blog, and my own personal passion. I don’t report on any of that on here, but I think a lot of Pandora fans have heard of operation now and the commercial reset. Also it has been in the news about Pandora melting down millions of dollars of… Read more »

I agree with the others here, Pandora are confusing their brand by trying to be all things to all people. I actually feel put off by this. Im sure MBB is really popular but I had to ask my kids who she was. If Pandora is for 15 year olds I will feel too old to wear it. Also, funnily, my kids (all older than MBB!) say Instagram is over as “it’s full of middle aged people” and they only use Snapchat now – perhaps when big business moves in, the target market moves out?

Dora

Hi Debbie, I don’t normally post about the business decisions of Pandora. Who the CEO is, how the shares are performing and new stores in China are of no interest to me really. I don’t normally post of marketing decisions either, but this was an official press release that actually has some examples of Autumn collection in the photo. So there is a crossover to the focus of this blog which is the actual product. The points people make about a 14 year old model / influencer are valid. However I don’t think any of us older than 14 needs… Read more »

I for one am just excited to see the Pandora relaunch. I don’t really know MMB other then she is in Stranger Things, but hopefully Pandora will be bringing up new ranges that will appeal to everyone regardless of who they have as an ambassador. Pandora haven’t been keeping the excitement going like it once used too, with all the lovely promos, store Tower events (I miss them) and the fact everything is pretty much hush hush until the time the collection comes out, the blogs giving us a peak of what’s to come, we got to see and have… Read more »

I have been a long time collector and I have noticed the change in the charms becoming more cute like mbb!! I know her from the show my daughter watches, definitely would of preferred like someone said more sophisticated keeping their pieces timeless. I recon pandora are aiming for the younger generation because they can’t fool us oldies, i feel like they are churning out the charms with less care, i have never had a problem with any of the range until the start of this year when the glass fell out of my locket, 2 silicone clips 1 popped… Read more »

Hi Arlene,

It is interesting that this news has had a strong effect in promoting Pandora to your daughter. I assume MBB posted on her social media?

I think us older ones are less influenced by the marketing, and will make informed decisions based on our tastes.

The influencers are for the easily influenced.

If Pandora achieve a new future generation of Pandora collectors their marketing department has done it job well. I just hope the design team can keep producing beautiful products.

Yep, hollow silver, CZ filled, and plated gold charms now. I have had 3 charms loose stones! They are definitely cutting every corner they can. I want heavier silver charms, two-tone and real gems Pandora!

Hi Kim,

I think the points you make are important. For me it is not so important who they have in the photos, but then again I will be buying the products anyway. The end product is important.

I don’t like all this secrecy either. I ended up not spending as much with Pandora last Christmas as I’d spent my money on the Troll beads promotion instead and I would have waited had I known in advance but they were telling us that the ornament wouldn’t be a GWP to start with and only for selected customers eek and I didn’t know about the bangle GWP at all roll . Oh well, they must think they are earning more money when we spend elsewhere………….somehow hmm .

My teen son & I watch Stranger Things so well aware of who she is. She is a teen icon with a huge following on insta. This partnership confirms what I have suspected for quite some time now, Pandora are now focusing on the youth market. MBB is only 14. As a long time collector, I will enjoy the large collection I have built but clearly I am too old for their brand. Mistake on the part of Pandora – teens have limited funds and do not build up a collection. Rest of us have income to splurge and invest… Read more »

Hi Lozzie,

Thanks for commenting. I completely understand your point. While I agree that teenagers have limited incomes they are he future collectors. I know, and see, many teenagers wearing a Pandora bracelet. While they might not have a collection as such at the moment they could build one in the future.

The Autumn collection will definitely have some pieces aimed at a younger generation but some ageless pieces as well smile

Hi Pat,

They have a model that they have used for the upcoming Autumn collection who is 50+ which I think really addresses the ageism in the beauty/fashion industry. You will see the images in the coming weeks, they are very tasteful.

Have a great evening,

Well, that’s good. I was thinking that they could have done something like M&S did when they were trying to get younger women interested in them and have a few people of different ages so that us loyal customers of many years don’t feel devalued and excluded hmm .

Jen
Jen

I agree! Gone are the days for the more mature original collectors. Their quality has steadily gone down hill in the past several years. They now churn out thinner more hallow silver charms with CZs. No more real gemstones, two-tone, or oxidizing, etc. We used to get something really beautiful and artistic for our money. I buy very little Pandora these days.I have started collecting other brands like Trollbeads, who aren’t going all trendy fashion, with a fast product turn out.

I’ve never heard of her either and TBH having a teenager as the face of Pandora is off-putting for us older ladies. If it’s for kids then it’s not for me, I don’t want to look like muton dressed as lamb, but it does explain the dinosaur and robots! They’d be better off with someone timeless and elegantly sophisticated, someone like Helen Mirren, someone who really is famous and not just a legend in their own lunchtime eek .

PERFECTLY SAID PAT!!!!
When I was a kid it was jelly bracelets – like Madonna wore. We had no thoughts of gold or silver. IF we got them it was as a special birthday gift – turning 13, 16 etc. and then our mom, aunt or grandma picked it out.
PS. I love Helen Mirren.
PPS. Maybe I am a dinosaur in my thinking! wink grin

Dora

Hi Heather, Thanks for your comment. I think from a marketing point of view if a 13 year old or 16 year old were to get a Pandora bracelet on their birthday then we have a new Pandora fan. But first they need to want to have the bracelet. As someone commented below, their daughter is now interested in Pandora because she watches Stranger Things. Anyway, I will be putting the Autumn Preview up on 20th August. High-res pictures, no style shots with models. I know the people that come on this blog are able to form their own opinions… Read more »

My mum bought me a traditional sterling silver charm bracelet for my 21st and it took around 15-16 years to fill it, mostly charms that my mum brought me back from her holidays but I did buy a few myself, when I wasn’t too busy paying my mortgage and clothing my kids hmm . It’s a very long game they’re playing if that’s the idea behind this, be better to keep the customers they have happy and hope that new ones join because they want something ‘grow up’ question .

Pat
Pat

Yes and the Rar rar skirts like Bananarama grin , but did our mothers or grandmothers wear them? or are we still wearing what we wore back then? No, because it was for teenagers. Jewellery is aspirational, even if these teenagers do buy it, or more precisely, have it bought for them, they aren’t going to be able to afford to start seriously collecting until their kids have grown up and they don’t have anything more important to spend their money on hmm .

Dora

Hi Pat,

To be honest the reason I put this pic up was because she is wearing a few items from Autumn collection, and I was expecting a few comments on that. I am not too concerned who Pandora pick for their marketing.

I think it is about influence. Helen Mirren has 617k followers on Instagram, MBB has 27m.

MBB was in Time 100 most influential people of 2018 making her the youngest ever.

Hi Pat,

This blog started out on Instagram and was where I stated posting my photos and doing mini reviews. I have 25k followers on IG but this blog has become the focus of what I am doing with IG supporting it these days.

I don’t have a personal IG account or FB for that matter.

My point regarding Helen Mirren is that she is unlikely to start posting pics of herself wearing Pandora and talking about how lovely it all is.

Never heard of her either, so I’m not that impressed by the fact that she should be the new Pandora ‘s face for the next two years. What I expect from Pandora is that they keep producing beautiful and affordable products, which they are not. On the other hand, after having seen the Autumn collection, I must say I’m very excited about it and I already have several pieces on my list! 😍 Pity many of them are so so pricey 😞😔 Anyway, I’d like to see a bit more of the Me line. Hi Ana,

I think who Pandora chooses as the face of their campaigns has little affect on us as fans. They are clearly looking to reach a wider audience and if this young lady helps them to achieve that then well done.

I agree that the new collection is stunning. I am previewing it next week, so won’t say more than that. As you say, we are looking for the end product.

Hi Zsuzsa,

I would say that the collection has wide appeal and is very beautiful. It is not immature and contains no emojis or anything like that. It is possible that Pandora are hoping to reach their next audience with Millie, but I have no inside info on why this young lady was chosen.

Hi Zsuzsa,

Thanks for your comment. She was on a Netflix show Stranger Things. Also in April 2018, the 14-year-old Brown was the youngest person named to Time’s 100 most influential list.

Maybe Pandora are looking for some influential to be their influencer?

Hi Ana,

Thanks for your comment. For my own part I choose to be influenced by the end product rather than a model/influencer in a photo/video. That said, I have seen some of the other imagery from the upcoming collection and it is fun and creative.
