“If you ever need to talk,
I’m all ears.”
Our new Pandora Friend Daisy the Rabbit puts some bounce into Springtime!
The Pandora Spring 2020 Collection welcomed two new Pandora Friends! Daisy the Rabbit (798763C00) who is also know as Nini the Rabbit in some countries and Patti the Sheep (798870C00). Both of these new Friends are the ideal creatures for creating Springtime stories. In this article we will be review the sweet Daisy the Rabbit charm.
Dora Explores: Pandora Daisy the Rabbit Charm
As with previous Pandora Friends, the Daisy the Rabbit (798763C00) charm is a shiny silver. A loved heart is encompassed in all Pandora Friends design. Two hearts act as cute pads on Daisy’s paws. Interestingly rabbits unlike cats and dogs, do not have pads on their paws. Rather, rabbits are more like hobbits in that besides their toes, fur is the only thing on their feet!
Daisy the Rabbit believes in positive vibes and is a bit of a flower child. She wears a little daisy tucked above her ears, which may be where her name comes from.
I am unsure why she is also named Nini. Apparently ‘nini’ is a colloquial Spanish word combining ‘neither’ and ‘nor’ which is used to describe young people who are not studying or working. Have you ever seen a rabbit working or studying? Exactly.
My favourite thing about rabbits is their little white cotton tails. Lines are etched onto Daisy’s tail to provide a fluffy texture. Another interesting fact about rabbits is that like deer, they do not technically have a tail. As the short, tuft of fur on their backsides is actually called a scut. Maybe that is why Bambi and Thumper are best friends!
The regular Pandora silver hallmark, ‘S925’ ‘ALE’ is engraved on the bottom of the Daisy the Rabbit charm.
Although the Daisy the Rabbit is quite weighty it does not have a threaded core. An unthreaded core makes it easier to add a charm to a bracelet. However it can be safer to have a charm with a threaded core as the last charm on a bracelet. This would not make any difference if the bracelet had smooth ends.
Style 1: Once Upon A Time
“Once upon a time there were four little Rabbits, and their names were; Flopsy, Mopsy, Cottontail, and Peter.”
Beatrix Potter The Tale of Peter Rabbit
“At last, Peter Rabbit made his way back to the cozy burrow where he lived with his family. He was a very tired rabbit indeed!”
Beatrix Potter The Tale of Peter Rabbit
“’Peter’, said little Benjamin, in a whisper, ‘who has got your clothes?’ Peter replied, ‘The scarecrow in Mr. McGregor’s garden’, and described how he had been chased about the garden, and had dropped his shoes and coat.”
Beatrix Potter The Tale of Benjamin Bunny
My first design with the Daisy the Rabbit charm is inspired by the delightful tales written by Beatrix Potter. This whimsical design is set on the classic Pandora Moments Bracelet (590702HV). The new Daisy Flower Clasp Bracelet (598776C01) would also be perfect for this styling.
At the middle of the bracelet the Golden Laurel Leaves (791407CCZ) pendant creates an enchanting centrepiece. On either side Daisy the Rabbit nibbles on White Daisy Flowers (798772C01). Characters from the world of Beatrix Potter are represented throughout the bracelet. Kind Mrs. Tiggy-Winkle is pictured with the remarkably alike Miss Hedgehog (791179) and Figaro (797488EN16) portrays cheeky little Tom Kitten. Much loved Jemima Puddle-Duck is illustrated with the Majestic Swan (791732CZ) and the 20th Anniversary Frog (798953C00) reflects the water loving Mr. Jeremy Fisher.
Besides her amusing tales, Beatrix Potter is famous for her beautiful illustrations. The Blue Butterfly Kisses (791622), Green Looking Glass (790925) and Wildflower (791638CZ) Murano charms incorporate the Beatrix Potter colour palette. While the Home Sweet Heart (798284CZ), Vintage Butterfly (791255CZ) and Watering Can (797873ENMX) charms create the perfect setting.
Style 2: Rabbits Friends & Relations
“‘Hallo, Rabbit,’ he said, ‘is that you?’
‘Let’s pretend it isn’t,’ said Rabbit, ‘and see what happens.’”
A. A. Milne Winnie-the-Pooh
“’Owl,’ said Rabbit shortly, ‘you and I have brains. The others have fluff. If there is any thinking to be done in this Forest – and when I say thinking I mean thinking – you and I must do it.’”
A.A. Milne, The House at Pooh Corner
“’Rabbit’s clever,’ said Pooh thoughtfully.
‘Yes,’ said Piglet, ‘Rabbit’s clever.’
‘And he has Brain.’
‘Yes,’ said Piglet, ‘Rabbit has Brain.’
There was a long silence.
‘I suppose,’ said Pooh, ‘that that’s why he never understands anything.’
A.A. Milne Winnie-the-Pooh
My second styling is a Winnie-the-Pooh theme in which Daisy the Rabbit acts as one of Rabbits friends and relations. This loveable design is set on the Disney Pandora Moments Sparkling Mickey Mouse Bracelet (590731CZ).
Adorable Piglet (792134EN117) hangs out with his teddy with Winnie-the-Pooh (791566) and Daisy on either side. Bouncing Tigger (792135EN80) and gloomy Eeyore (791567EN80) are also featured along with special guests Bambi (796462) and Thumper (796342). The new Wavy Lavender (798875C00) and Fancy Pink (798872C00) Murano charms are the perfect complement to the pink enamel details on the charms.
Two of Winnie-the-pooh adventures are also illustrated in this bracelet design. The story of Winnie-the-the Pooh and the Heffalump and Woozles is represented with the retired Elephant (791130) charm. While the two tone Bee Hive (790577) is fitting for when Pooh used a balloon to try and collect honey in the tale of Winnie-the-the Pooh and Some Bees!
My verdict on the Pandora Daisy the Rabbit Charm? A hop above the rest!
