REVIEW: PANDORA Ice Drops Murano Charm
“It is the life of the crystal, the architect of the flake, the fire of the frost…”
Add a little jack frosting with tiny blue droplets and glistening bubbles in this magical Murano charm.
The latest PANDORA Murano charm from the Winter 2017 Collection is near perfection! When I first saw the preview of the PANDORA Ice Drops Murano Charm (796361NCB), it was an absolute must-have and I was delighted to add it to my collection.
The PANDORA Winter 2017 Collection was filled with a variety of blue hues, from indigo to royal blue and the cool ice blue of the Ice Drop Murano charm fits in beautifully. The frozen droplet effect is created with little cubic zirconia stones in a slightly darker blue than the glass. Minute bubbles appear to float playfully, in a wonderful imitation of sparkling water.
As on previous PANDORA Murano charms, the Ice Drop Murano has the standard ‘PANDORA’ and ‘S925 ALE’ hallmarks engraved around one side of the silver core. The other side of the core is left plain.
A few PANDORA fans have noticed that the silver cores on Murano charms seem to have a slightly smaller diameter than older Murano charms. The difference isn’t overly noticeable, especially when on a bracelet. Personally I prefer the smaller core as it looks neater and allows for more focus on the Murano glass design.
Like most Murano charms, the Ice Drop Murano is a threaded charm. So far it seems that the PANDORA Rose Murano has been the only Murano charm without a threaded core.
My first design with the Ice Drop Murano charm features many of the new charms from the PANDORA Winter 2017 collection on my new dazzling PANDORA Signature Pavé clasp bracelet (590723CZ). The glittering clasp looks charming opposite the Heart of Winter Pendant Dangle (796372CZ), which surrounded with the Ice Drop Murano and the Starry Night Sky Murano (791662CZ). I alternated the various blue charms and kept similar shapes opposite each other to maintain balance in the design. The two ‘button’ style charms; Illuminating Stars (796373CZ) and Dazzling Snowflake (796358NTB) reflect each other. Whilst the smaller more spherical Wintry Delight (796357EN63) and Celestial Mosaic (796400MMB) charms face each other. Read our review of the amazing Celestial Mosaic charm for more style inspiration.
One of my favourite ways to wear the PANDORA Open Bangle (596477) is to showcase a medley of Murano charms. The new Ice Drops Murano looks splendid with the Pink (791670) and Mint Glitter Murano (791669) charms! The blue, pink and teal pastels are such delicious shades together, that I almost want to eat them! All three Murano charms are decorated with mini glass bubbles but the Ice Drop Murano also includes the pretty blue cubic zirconia stones.
It is interesting to see how the Ice Drop Murano colour seems to change depending on what surrounds it. When styled with the pale pink and teal, the Ice Drop Murano presented a delicate soft-hued blue. Worn alone, the Ice Drop Murano suits it’s name as it develops a frozen, arctic blue. I kept this design simple but added the superb Shining Path Clips (791972CZ) for a little bling factor! Their single line of clear cubic zirconia stones contributes to the frosted beauty of the bracelet.
PANDORA Murano charms are fantastic for quickly changing the feel of a bracelet. Despite it’s wintry name, the Ice Drops Murano charm looks perfect in this summer fun design! When I originally previewed the PANDORA Winter 2017 collection I discussed how the frozen ice drops could also represent the brilliant effervescence in a swimming pool. The Pink Glitter (791670), Shimmering Stripe (796248), Mint Glitter (791669), Disney Jasmine’s Signature Colour (791648) and Ice Drops Murano charms form a fanciful rainbow crescent which is enchanting! I don’t normally fill my bracelets with dangle charms but here I have used oodles and I love the effect! The original fuchsia Orchid Dangle Pendant (791554EN69), Pink Famingo (791294czs), Sparkling Palm Tree (791540CZ), Tropical Starfish & Sea Shell (792076CZF), Tropical Parrot (791903ENMX) and 2017 Club Charm (792092D) make this design danglific!
The splendid Shimmering Stripe Murano is currently included in the PANDORA UK Winter Sale for £19.
My final design continues with the promise that summer is coming! The chilly Ice Drops Murano appears cool and refreshing team with the detailed Ocean Life (792075ENMX) charm and the Mint Glitter Murano (791669). The Double Light Blue Leather Bracelet (590734cbl-d) provides a relaxed, laid back vide to this vacation themed style. The Ocean Life charm is included in the current PANDORA UK sale and is available for £35.
My verdict on the PANDORA Ice Drops Murano Charm? Cool!
