“The hum of bees is the voice of the garden.”

As a nature lover I was delighted when I saw that the initial PANDORA Shine collection was filled with busy bumble bees, bright in their 18k gold plating. The PANDORA Shine Honeybee Charm (767023EN16) was a definite must-have for me, with its decorative honeycomb pattern and two cute little buzzing bees.
If you haven’t yet heard the buzz on PANDORA Shine, you can read our review on the PANDORA Shine Sweet As Honey Pendant here and learn the answers to ‘What is PANDORA Shine?’ and ‘How to clean PANDORA Shine?’.
The PANDORA Shine Honeybee Charm is jam-pack (or should I say honey-pack?) full of intricate details. Cut out hearts are subtly scattered amongst the hexagonal shapes that make up the honeycomb design. The petite honeybee also features a teeny tiny heart placed between its wings and the stripes of the bees plump body are hand painted with glossy black enamel.
Bees Know Best ?
[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text css=”.vc_custom_1523269775043{padding-top: 10px !important;padding-right: 10px !important;padding-bottom: 10px !important;padding-left: 10px !important;background-color: #f2e3a6 !important;border-radius: 5px !important;}”]Honeybees are not just known for their being hard working and strong, but also for their wisdom. Have you ever wondered why the shape of a honeycomb cell is hexagonal, and not round, square, triangle, or any other shape? The answer is because bees know best and a hexagon is the most efficient shape for the bees home and to store food.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text css=”.vc_custom_1523269775043{padding-top: 10px !important;padding-right: 10px !important;padding-bottom: 10px !important;padding-left: 10px !important;background-color: #f2e3a6 !important;border-radius: 5px !important;}”]In fact, those clever geometrists have studied the geometry of the honeycomb pattern and explain that no other shape can create more space with the given material. For example, circles leave wasted space and squares create a smaller storage area. Plus if you have any engineer friends, they will confirm that the hexagon structure provides the maximum strength.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
The second bumble bee on the reverse of the PANDORA Shine Honeybee Charm is plain and doesn’t feature the black enamel detail but the size and structure is identical to the first bee.
The ‘PANDORA’ hallmark is stamped on one side of the Honeybee Charm, tucked near the opening.
On the opposite side is the standard ‘S925 ALE’ hallmark. As the PANDORA Shine range is silver jewellery which is then plated with 18k gold, it is not stamped with the ‘G585’ hallmark.
The PANDORA Shine Honeybee Charm has a spherical shape, but due to the protruding bees at opposite sides it can appear slightly oval.
The positioning of the two bees on the Honeybee Charm is perfectly spaced to ensure that there is always a buzzy bee visible even when the charm is on a bracelet.
My first styling with the PANDORA Shine Honeybee Charm is called ‘The Sound of Spring’. I use the PANDORA Mesh Bracelet (596543) when I want a lightweight design and it looks superb with openwork filigree charms as the mesh texture peeps through the middle of the charms. The Honeybee Charm is glowing gloriously in the middle of this three metal design. The new Dreamy Dragonfly (797025CZ) and Promise of Spring (797046) charms provide a spring feel with soaring dragonflies and the inscriptions ‘Love’ and ‘Life’.
Quite a few PANDORA fans are unsure about mixing the PANDORA Shine range with PANDORA 14k gold pieces. I recently acquired my first PANDORA ‘goldie’ from a Rue La La PANDORA sale and decided to use the opportunity to compare 18k gold plated and solid 14k gold.
In my second styling titled ‘Golden Days’ I teamed the retired 14k Gold Celtic Circles Charm (750811TPK) with the PANDORA Shine Honeybee Charm, PANDORA Rose Darling Daisy Meadow (780004EN12) and Two Hearts Spacers (786559CZR). I was pleasantly surprised at how the Smooth PANDORA Rose Clasp Bracelet (580728) united the three metals and created a soft, beautiful bracelet with an exclusive feel. The Fascinating Blush Crystal / Rosy Facets Crystal (791729NBP) helps to blend the various golds together and provides highlights the pink topaz gems in the Celtic Circles charm.
The Fascinating Blush Crystals look amazing with PANDORA Rose jewellery and if you haven’t yet purchased them, now is the time to do so as they are retired. PANDORA UK eStore has them available for £19 in their Spring Sale.
A few PANDORA fans are thinking about purchasing PANDORA Shine jewellery but are concerned about starting a new range. I decided to create a design which featured just one PANDORA Shine charm to show how versatile PANDORA Shine is. This design is called ‘The Sounds of Spring’ and is teeming with nature themed charms. The PANDORA Rose Heart Clasp Bracelet (580719) along with floral PANDORA Rose charms adds warmth to the design whilst the golden yellow glass in the charming Wildflower Murano Charms (791638CZ) accentuates the golden Honeybee Charm and the sunshine yellow of the cubic zirconia Edelweiss Charm (791176czy).
This design is full of fantastic floral and fauna and I have used some of my favourite animal charms such as the adorable Miss Hedgehog (791179) and the Happy Little Bird (790424) charm. Unfortunately both of these charms are now retired but I am really pleased that PANDORA has started producing similar charms such as the super cute new Spring Bird House (797045) charm which you’ll notice peeking on the lefthand side.
The pretty Wildflower Murano Charms are one of my favourites mourns charms and they are now available for just £19 in the PANDORA UK Spring Sale.
My final design has the cheeky title ‘The Birds & the Bees’ and is a simple trio of charms on the on the PANDORA Open Bangle (596477). The Birds & Branches (791213CZN) charm provides the birdies and of course the Honeybee Charm has the bees! On the other side of the PANDORA Shine Honeybee the Green Petite Facets Charm (791499SGQ) looks amazing with its almost aquamarine green colour. The cut of the facets echo the angles of the hexagonal shapes in the Honeybee Charm.
I really ‘need’ another gorgeous Green Petite Facets and it is good timing as they are now £19 in the PANDORA UK Spring Sale!

Final Scores: PANDORA Shine Honeybee Charm
- Wow Factor - 8/108/10
- Value - 10/1010/10
- Design - 9/109/10
- Versatility - 7/107/10
Summary
The 18k Gold plating give this charm a real wow factor but it looses some points as it not amoung the most stunning of the new Shine charms. It is very good value for money with the gold plating and enamel bee design not breaking the bank. The design is intricate, sophisticated and beautiful. Points lost on versatility as it will not necessarily fit on all bracelet designs.
