Express your lively nature with this fascinating beehive and dancing bumble bee pendant!

The striking PANDORA Shine Sweet As Honey Pendant Charm (767044CZ) from the PANDORA Spring 2018 Collection, sat at the top of my wish list along with the PANDORA Shine Queen Bee Pendant (367075EN16). As the Queen Bee Pendant has received rather a lot of press coverage I decided to appraise the sumptuous Sweet As Honey Pendant as my first PANDORA Shine review.

I apologise in advance if you notice there are a few more photographs than usual. I couldn’t help myself… the PANDORA Shine Sweet As Honey Pendant attracted my camera like, well, a bee to honey!

What is PANDORA Shine?

Made with the same high quality craftsmanship as other PANDORA collections, PANDORA Shine jewellery is brought to life with a combination of traditional artisan electroplating along with modern technology which sees a sterling silver core coated with palladium, before being topped with a final layer of deep, rich 18k gold.

PANDORA Shine jewellery is created from 18k gold-plated sterling silver. It is different to the PANDORA 14k solid gold jewellery but can be styled together will all of PANDORA metals: 14k gold, sterling silver and PANDORA Rose.

How to clean PANDORA Shine?

Maintain the shine by polishing jewellery with a soft polishing cloth. Wash gently in lukewarm, soapy water, patting jewellery gently with a soft cloth to dry. Avoid using silver dips, polishing liquids, ultrasonic cleaning and abrasive chemicals. Limit contact with make-up, creams, perfumes and lotions. Remove jewellery before swimming, bathing and exercise. Store PANDORA Shine separately to avoid scratches.

The PANDORA Shine Sweet As Honey Pendant Charm is comprised of multiple elements; a little bumble bee, a hanging beehive and a sparkling bale. Both the bale and the hive are set with glittering clear cubic zirconia stones. The delicate gems set around the shining, swirling beehive resemble glistening honeycomb.

The tiny bumble bee hangs separately from the beehive which creates a natural motion as if it is dancing around the sweet honey hive. It also produces a subtle humming sound as it gently moves, rather like a bee buzzing away on a summers day!

As PANDORA Shine jewellery is gold-plated and not solid gold, it bears a sterling silver hallmark. The standard PANDORA ‘S925’ and ‘ALE’ hallmarks are situation on the side of the bale on the Sweet As Honey Pendant Charm.

Longtime PANDORA fans will be delighted to see the amount of detail in the jewellery from the Spring 2018 Collection. The mini bumblebee on the PANDORA Shine Sweet As Honey Pendant is of the same design as the Queen Bee Pendant although the pattern on its wings is solid and not cut out. Both bees feature a fun little heart detail at the top of their body beneath the eyes.

It is believed to be a powerful stone which helps to release fear and anxiety whilst providing harmony and balance. It symbolises taking action and making wise decisions. The Tiger Stone is perfect to illustrate a cluster of luscious golden honey and its symbolism of action is ideal for a buzzy bee!

The swirling structure of the beehive on the Sweet As Honey Pendant, adds to the fluidity of the PANDORA Shine gold plating and it is quite mesmurising. I love the contrast of the natural Tiger Stone against the smooth edge of the golden ribbons.

Like the PANDORA Rose range, the PANDORA Shine charms have a smooth core rather than threaded. This will prevent scratching the gold plating.

One of the great things about PANDORA jewellery is that you can mix and match how you wear it. PANDORA Pendant Charms look beautiful worn on both necklaces and bracelets. My first style with the PANDORA Shine Sweet As Honey Pendant Charm is to wear it alone, simply on my gold necklace chain.

As regular readers will know, I absolutely adore Winnie-the-Pooh, even if he is a silly old bear! When I was thinking of how to style the PANDORA Shine Sweet As Honey Pendant Charm I remembered Pooh’s love of honey and the scrapes he gets into trying to satisfy his insatiable hunger. This design is called ‘Climbing Thoughts’ and is inspired by when Pooh Bear climbed up a dangerously high tree trying to reach the honey in the beehive.

The PANDORA Mesh Bracelet (596543) is perfect for this style as it is lightweight and allows the charms to move around. The PANDORA Disney Winnie-the-Pooh Portrait Charm (791566) is happily smiling and thinking of the delicious Golden Honey Charm (767120EN158) next to him! The bees are protecting their precious honey in the retired PANDORA Beehive Charm (790577) and the PANDORA Shine Honeybee Charm (767023EN16).

The PANDORA Shine range can be worn with the other PANDORA metals and my third design features PANDORA Shine, PANDORA Rose and silver. The PANDORA Rose Heart Clasp Bracelet (580719) is splendid as a background to the three metals. The PANDORA Shine Sweet As Honey Pendant Charm, Golden Honey Charm (767120EN158), PANDORA Shine Honeybee Charm (767023EN16) are alternated with silver and Rose charms. The sparkling Shining Path Clips (791972CZ) echo the bale of the Sweet As Honey Charm.

For a vintage style I combined PANDORA Shine with two tone charms on the retired PANDORA Oxidised Bracelet (590702ox). A few PANDORA fans have mentioned that they thought the new PANDORA Shine range was too ‘yellow’. On this bracelet you can see the PANDORA Shine charms are only slightly more yellow than the touches of 14k gold on the two tone charms.

My final design called ‘Wild Honey’ is simple yet sweet with the pretty Wildflower Murano Charms (791638CZ) flanking the Sweet As Honey Pendant on the PANDORA Open Bangle (596477). The gold colour is empathised with the pollen filled daisies in the Murano Charms. The swirling pattern from the beehive is mirrored in the ribbons of brown and green glass at the centre of the charm.
